7th US Infantry
The 7th U.S. Infantry Regiment was one of the regular army units that served during the War of 1812. Organized as part of the United States Army's expansion before the war, the regiment participated in several important campaigns along the northern frontier and in Canada. Soldiers of the 7th Infantry fought in battles such as the Battle of Lundy's Lane, one of the bloodiest engagements of the war. The regiment earned a reputation for discipline and courage while serving in General Jacob Brown's army during the Niagara Campaign of 1814. Like many regular army units of the period, the 7th Infantry endured harsh conditions, long marches, and heavy casualties while helping defend American interests against British forces and their allies. The regiment's service contributed to the growing professionalism of the United States Army in the early nineteenth century.
